Family Court Services and Mediation

When parents are at odds regarding child custody and visitation in the Central Valley, the Family Law Court will refer the parents to Family Court Services (FCS) to meet with a Mediator.

The job of the FCS mediator is simple: ascertain if the parents can agree upon a custody and visitation plan for the children and if no agreement is reached the mediator will make a report and recommendation to the Superior Court Judge as to what they believe an appropriate parenting plan should be.

At Arnold Law Group, we meet with you for a pre-mediation session.  Attorneys typically cannot be present in mediation itself, therefore, we advise our clients on how to properly express their desires to the FCS Mediator.
